IFTS was founded in 2008 by Balaji KAS to address the growing demand for skilled trade finance professionals in India. As multinational banks established back-office operations in the country, the need for trained professionals surged. IFTS took the initiative to provide fresh graduates with advanced, hands-on training in international trade processes under ICC uniform rules, fostering essential skills in trade finance.
Over the years, IFTS has successfully trained hundreds of students, achieving a 100% placement track record and securing positions in the back offices of leading global MNCs in India. Many of our alumni have advanced to key managerial roles, reflecting the high-quality education and training they received at IFTS.
IFTS Learning, our cutting-edge e-learning platform, has evolved from traditional classroom instruction to fully digitalized online classes, incorporating advanced Light Board Technology. We provide robust support to students and corporate professionals worldwide, enhancing their expertise in trade finance products. Professional Journey: Balaji KAS began his career in 1991 with ITC Limited, joining the International Business Division. His dedication to international trade led him to achieve the Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) designation in 2001, when the examination was first conducted in India. This achievement reflects his commitment to excellence and expertise in the field.
Trade Finance and Risk Management: A seasoned professional in trade finance and risk management, Balaji KAS held a leadership role as General Manager of Finance and Risk Management at a Bangkok-based commodity trading company in India. This experience further honed his expertise in the complexities of global trade.
Banking Operations and Leadership: After transitioning into banking operations, Balaji KAS contributed his expertise to prestigious institutions such as Standard Chartered and Deutsche Bank. His leadership skills culminated in his role as site head for Deutsche Bank’s Trade Training Academy within Deutsche Bank Operations International (DBOI), where he provided CDCS training for working executives and cross-functional training within trade operations, thereby enhancing the skill set of staff and strengthening their expertise in the industry.
Establishment of IFTS: In 2008, driven by a passion for nurturing talent and sharing extensive knowledge, Balaji KAS founded Institute of Foreign Trade Services (IFTS). Under his mentorship and leadership, IFTS has trained hundreds of fresh graduates in trade finance operations. Many of these individuals have passed the CDCS examination and secured positions in leading MNCs, reflecting the effectiveness of IFTS’s training programs.
IFTS Learning: Recognizing the growing trend of digital education, Balaji KAS established IFTS Learning, an e-learning platform offering specialized courses in trade finance. This initiative is designed to make education more accessible globally, empowering professionals to enhance their expertise and skills using advanced digital technologies.
